How Cheernook works

Four small steps, from writing the goal down to seeing who’s cheering you on.
1. Post a goal
Give it a title, a short story, and a category. A target amount and a date are both optional — plenty of goals aren’t about money at all. Add a cover photo, or let Cheernook use a category picture.
Choose who can see it: link-only sends it straight to the people you share it with, nothing more. Public also lists it on Discover, for anyone browsing. Link-only is the default — sharing more widely is always something you choose.
2. Share it where your people already are
Every goal has a share sheet with a caption ready to go — Messages, WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook, X, email, or just a copied link. No separate invite system to manage.
3. They send a cheer
Anyone with the link can send a cheer: a dollar amount (a few presets, or their own number) and an optional note, with the choice to keep their name off the public list. Card cheers are processed by Stripe. Cheernook keeps 15% of the pledge; Stripe’s ordinary card fee comes out of what’s left. The rest goes to the person who posted the goal, once they’ve connected payouts from their profile — until then, cheers are recorded as support, not a bank transfer.
4. Keep your people posted
Post progress updates as you go — a note, a photo, or a short video — and friends can react or reply to each one. Comments sit on the goal itself. If a goal goes quiet, Cheernook can nudge the owner to share an update, on whatever schedule they choose.
A few common questions
Is this a donation platform? No. A cheer is a personal gift from someone who knows you, not a charitable donation, and there’s no tax receipt.
What if I don’t hit my target? There’s no all-or-nothing rule — whatever’s been cheered is already support you’ve received, target or not.
Can I take a goal down? Yes, mark it reached or pause it any time from the goal page, or write to Support to remove it entirely.
